What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (or CBT) is a structured therapy where we discuss specific problems and set goals for improvements. In these sessions we work to alleviate symptoms and distress, and also stop them from happening again.

Part of this therapy is developing helpful thoughts and behaviours that can be used outside of your sessions.

CBT is a very well-known technique and is quite efficient.

What happens during a session?

During a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy session, we try to identify unhelpful thoughts, patterns or behaviours, and talk about your ideal goals. What do you want to achieve with your therapy?

We also explore skills and strategies that you can take with you, to help you address your symptoms after you’ve left the session.

This is a very flexible treatment option, so we may combine CBT with other approved approaches to help with your healing journey.

Who is CBT best for?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a good option for many people, including those who suffer anxiety and PTSD.
